December Meeting

We had a good turn out and great treats at our December Meeting. Most of the regulars were there and we had three new visiters. It was fun to see Stephanie teach one of them to knit.

We discussed doing a Knit-Lit friend scarf (hat or mitten or what ever you want) and we will have information and a sign up at our January Meeting. Then we will bring our yarn to exchange in February.

We voted an author we wanted to do starting in March. The winner was Debbie Macomber. We have read The Shop on Blossom Street. So starting in March we will read the next one in the series A Good Yarn and then go onto Back on Blossom Street and finally Twenty Wishes. Currently those are the four in her Blossom Street series.

Merry Christmas

November Meeting

Even though our November meeting was on a different night most of the regulars made it to Knit-Lit.

We decided to bring treats to the Tuesday December 9th meeting since it is Christmas time.

As always you don't have to have read the book, be knitting, or have brought a treat.
If your interested in knitting or books just come.

November Meeting

Just wanted to remind everyone that since the library will be closed November 11th for Veteans Day we will be meeting the following Thursday on the 13th. We will be reading The Shop On Blossom Street by Debbie Macomber.

Everyone is welcome. You don't have to have read the book or be knitting. If you enjoy knitting or reading you'll enjoy yourself.

The Vote Is In.

For December we will all pick which ever book by Elizabeth Zimmermann we feel like. Then we will discuss which books we read and what we did or didn't like about them.

For January we will read Death by Cashmere by Sally Goldenbaum.

For Februrary we will read The Knitting Goddess by Deborah Bergman. Because of a libary conflict we will be meeting on the 12th. That is the Thursday right after our normal Tuesday.

Then in March we will work through a series that we will vote soon.

Confusion

For those of you that showed up, the second Tuesday of September, and we were not there we are so very sorry. The Library changed our date and knew our new date but forgot to change it on the revolving sign.

On October 14th we will be back to our second Tuesday of the month. We will be reading Needled To Death by Maggie Sefton. We read her first book Knit One, Kill Two at our very first meeting.

November will be another opportunity for confusion. The second Tuesday of the month is Veteran's Day so the library will be closed. Therefore we will be meeting on Thursday November 13th.

In October we will be voting on out December, January and February books.

Becky's Moving This Week

Becky leaves this week for Columbia Maryland. Her partner Michelle got a job at Wells Fargo and will start August 4th. Columbia Maryland is in-between both sets of parents. Becky's last day at Maplewood library was July 24th. When I stopped in to say goodbye she said it didn't seem real but her apartment was such a mess that it must be real. They plan to stay in a hotel until they can find and apartment. As I hear news about the move and there new jobs I'll keep you posted. Looking forward to seeing you all August 12th as we discuss Knitalong: Celebrating the Tradition of Knitting Together by Larissa and Martin Brown.

Voting Results for Fall of 2008

On September 11th (Remember the later date due because of voting at the Library) we will be reading Sisterhood of the Dropped Stitches by Janet Tronstad. Chris and Pauline are going to lead our discussion. The vote put this book in second place but since it is about younger women I thought it would be good to do it in the back to school month of September.

On October 14th we will do the first place winner Needled To Death by Maggie Sefon. We did the first book in this series on our very first meeting. We are looking for a discussion leader. Or two of you could do it together.

On November 11th we will be doing The Shop on Blossom Street by Debbie Macomber. This is a first book in the Blossom Street series. Also looking for a discussion leader for this book.

We will vote again in October so give me sugestions for what books to consider.

We missed Becky at our first meeting without her. The group was small but we had a couple of fun new people. It was nice to catch up and see what everyone is working on. As always it was great to chat about our book of the month.

On August 12th Hallie will lead us as we talk Knitalong: Celebrating the Tradition of Knitting Together by Larissa and Martin Brown

Mini-class on Knitting Socks at Next Meeting

Hello all - This next month's meeting will be divided into two parts:
6-7ish will be our book club portion and 7-8ish will be a mini-class on knitting socks. For those who are interested, please bring sock yarn (fingering or 4 ply), needles (I'd recommend size 2), and pattern (if you have one, if not no worries). If you have a sock in process, that's great too. Also if there's anyone interested in being available to help, you're more than welcome. If you have extra supplies and want to bring them, that would be great too!
If you have any questions, please let me know.

See you March 11th!
